Mashallah

There are three main stages of the preservation of the Holy Quran. 1. In the life of the Prophet Muhammad 2. In the life of the first Caliph, Abu Bakr 3. In the life of the third Caliph, Uthman ibn Affan The Arabic word Caliph comes from the Arabic word khalifa "خليفة", meaning "successor" or "next in line." Abu Baker was the first leader of Muslims after the Prophet Muhammad's death and Uthman Ibn Affan was the third leader of Muslims. 🔸 In the life of the Prophet Muhammad Allah granted the Prophet Muhammad the power to memorize the verses He revealed to him. Immediately, the Prophet under his supervision gathered his scribes and orally dictated the verses he just received to them to be written on whatever writing material that was available at that time. Since the Prophet Muhammad was illiterate, he directed his scribes to read back to him what they wrote to avoid writing other than what he received from God. Afterward, the Prophet Muhammad recited what he memorized to the Muslims around him. Muslims instantly memorized what the Prophet recited to them and started reading what they memorized in their five daily prayers. The Quran at the time of the prophet was preserved in two places: 1- The written pages. 2- The heart of Muslims. The Prophet Muhammad also directed his scribes where to place the verses in the growing body of the text. Allah promised to protect the Quran from being changed or lost: Allah says in the Quran 15:9 (Interpretation of the meaning) "Indeed We have sent down the Quran, and indeed We will preserve it." During the Prophet Muhammad's life, thousands of Muslims memorized the entire Quran, and after his death, the number of Muslims who memorized the Quran kept increasing until we find today millions of Muslims of different nationalities and ages who know the Quran by heart. And many of them do not speak or understand Arabic. ❓❓WHAT DOES THIS MEAN❓❓ It means that if we were to destroy all the copies of the Quran books that exist on earth, Muslims in a different part of the world would be capable of rewriting the Quran exactly as it was revealed to Prophet Muhammad, from their memory, word by word and all the written Quran all around the world will match word by word and page by page. It further means that if anybody tries to add, change, or delete any word or verse in the Quran, Muslims will easily discover it and reject it. 🔸 In the life of the first Caliph of Muslims, Abu Bakr Abu Bakr, the first leader of Muslims after the death of the Prophet Muhammad, realized the importance of collecting all the written pages of the Quran into one book. He formed a committee and assigned two known companions who memorized the Quran to supervise the compilation of the Quran. To make sure nothing was written by mistake, they double-checked each written verse with the memories of each member of the committee. Finally, the first compiled copy was placed with the Prophet Muhammad's wife Hafsa, daughter of Omar ibn al Khattab. 🔸 In the life of the third Caliph of Muslims, Uthman ibn Affan One of the questions that many Islam attackers ask Muslims in an effort to disqualify the Quran we have today being the Word of God is: Why did the third leader of Muslims, Uthman, burn all copies of the Quran and keep only one copy during his reign? And point to Quran 15:9 where Allah says He will protect the revealed Quran verses from being changed or lost. They do not bother to learn because they want only to attack Islam. Please pay attention to what I will write to be able to give a satisfying good answer. When the Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad there were different Arabic spoken dialects in the area. The Prophet Muhammad's spoken dialect was his tribe's Quraish dialect. Do different Arabic dialects mean different Quran meanings? Different Arabic dialect does not mean different meanings for the same spoken Arabic word, it means different pronunciation and is slightly differently written while the meaning stays the same regardless of what Arabic dialect different Arabic tribes speak. After the Prophet Muhammad's death, the whole Quran was memorized by hundreds of thousands of Muslims and nobody was reported complaining about other people reading the Quran using different dialects. By the time of the third leader of Muslims, Uthman ibn Affan, the Muslim population had spread over vast areas outside the Arabic Peninsula where there were many people of other cultures and languages. Hudhayfah ibn al-Yamaan, the companion of Prophet Muhammad, warned Uthman bin Affan about the future dilemma of having the Quran written in different dialects. Uthman bin Affan acknowledged the dilemma of Muslims starting to fight about in which dialect the Quran should be recited. Uthman ordered the collection of all the written copies of the Quran. He burned all of them and preserved only the Prophet Muhammad's Quraish tribe dialect copy of the Quran. Afterward, he assigned scribes to write many copies of the Prophet Muhammad's Quraish tribe dialect copy of the Quran and redistribute it to all tribes. With Allah’s help and guidance to Hudhayfah ibn al-Yamaan and Uthman bin Affan, the Quran we have today, wherever you go, is the same original Arabic Quran that was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad in the Quraysh dialect. 🤔Think about it: Why did history not record any rejection from any tribe for burning its copy of the Quran? Nobody rejected, it because It did not make any difference for any of them since the Quran verses give the same meaning no matter in what dialect it is written or recited. Muslims always had ONE CONSISTENT Quran, which is still written in Arabic the original revelation language of revelation.

Yes it looks like the Quran is generally preserved from Uthmanic period HOWEVER remember a critical point here: Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence 1. When you claim that the Creator of the Universe sent a message to a man, and that this Creator will ‘miraculously preserve’ the message for all time, you are making an Extraordinary claim 2. Muslims make that extraordinary claim about the Quran But in terms of real historical evidence we find: 1. Muslims own narratives (Hadith claims that some chapters have verses missing (Ibn Masud, Aisha, others) that were NOT part of the early Uthmanic Quran - Eg missing parts of Surah Ahzab and verse of stoning and the verse of breastfeeding 2. No clear historical / written objective Critical review of the Quran and textual analysis of it from a objective secular view was done by muslims and as such the subject is still in its infancy as a subject and Muslims throughout history never bothered to objectively critique or evaluate it just like other religions - they just took it on faith as the word of God. 3. From a history review we find that the Qur’an manuscripts DO exhibit a good stability in the text across many centuries, from the earliest to the latest. In general terms, not much more than orthographic variants (vowel differences in the consonantal script) and other minor variants are found. There are occasional copyist mistakes, but no major differences involving whole clauses or sentences. This accords with traditional, popular Muslim beliefs/claims about the stability of the text of the Qur’an. BUT the other evidence (especially palimpsests and reports from early centuries) suggest strongly that there was, in the earliest period, a considerably greater diversity in the text of the Qur’an than is reflected in the extant manuscripts studied. Moreover, as is widely accepted, in the late 7th century, disturbed by the diversity in the text of the Qur’an, the Caliph Uthman organized a standardization of the consontantal text (early Arabic, like ancient Hebrew, was a consonantal aphabet with no written vowels), suppressing variant versions. As often the concern of monarchs, Uthman wanted to unify his religio-political doman, and suppress potentially dangerous differences. Therefore, given the place of the Qur’an in Islam, he focused on fixing its text. Thereafter, in successive centuries, further steps were taken to fix the text and its recitation. So, as Small observes, “the history of the transmission of the text of the Qur’an is at least as much a testament to the destruction of Qur’an material as it is to its preservation . . . It is also testimony to the fact that there NEVER was one original text of the Qur’an” (p. 180). So we see that there was evidence for SIGNIFICANT variation in the early history of the Quran and that we CANNOT find evidence that the Quran as it was ‘revealed’ to Muhammed during his own lifetime is in fact exactly the same Quran as the Uthman edition We have no proof It should have been simple for the creator of the universe to preserve the text yet we find so many issues with the historical narrative

He is not telling the truth. The Quran is specific enough on the formation of the universe, the earth and the beginning of life. It contradicts science in all of them. Foe example it mentions the earth at the formation of the universe. There was no earth then, not for 10 billion years. It mentions that semen fluid is emitted from between the backbone and the ribs. I don’t suppose this researched comment will be left up, because without lies ALL religions die - so read it while you can! Here are the missing verses and chapters from the ‘miraculously preserved’ (corrupt) Quran! Some Verses were CANCELLED! “We used to read a verse of the Quran revealed in their connection, but later the verse was canceled. It was: "convey to our people on our behalf the information that we have met our Lord, and He is pleased with us, and has made us pleased". (Sahih al-Bukhari, [d. 870AD] Vol. 5:416, pg.288) Some verses were FORGOTTEN! “We used to recite a surah which resembled in length and severity to (Surah) Bara'at. I have, however, forgotten it with the exception of this which I remember out of it: "If there were two valleys full of riches, for the son of Adam, he would long for a third valley, and nothing would fill the stomach of the son of Adam but dust". (Sahih Muslim, [d. 875 AD] Vol. 2:2286, p.501) Modern Qur'anic scholars disagree with older scholars! Some Verses were LOST! “Many (of the passages) of the Qur'an that were sent down were known by those who died on the day of Yamama…but they were not known (by those who) survived them, nor were they written down, nor had Abu Bakr, Umar, or Uthman (by that time) collected the Qur'an, nor were they found with even one (person) after them.” (Ibn Abi Dawud, Kitab al-Masahif p.23) Some chapters and verses are MISSING!!! Ibn Umar, one of Muhammad’s companions, admitted that much of the Quran has been lost! Ibn Umar declared to Muslims; “Let none of you say “I have learned the whole of the Quran”. For how does he know what the whole of it is WHEN MUCH OF IT HAS DISAPPEARED? Let him rather say “I have learned what is extant thereof.” (i.e. I’ve only learned what has survived.) Abu Ubaid then goes on to give examples of missing verses, missing passages and missing chapters. Here is what the first generation of Muslims said about the PERFECT PRESERVATION of Surah 33 of the Quran. Ibn Abi Maryam related to us from Ibn Luhai’a from Abu’l-Aswad from Urwa b. az-Zubair from Aisha who said, “Surat al-Ahzab Surah 33 used to be recited in the time of the Prophet with 200 verses, but when Uthman wrote out the codices, he was unable to procure more of it than there is in it today.” So according to Muhammad’s (child bride) Aisha Surah 33 used to be recited with 200 verses but when the caliph Uthman decided to distribute his written version of the Quran, Muslims could only find what’s in the chapter today, 73 verses! Aisha Mohammed’s wife confirmed that 127 verses are missing from Surah 33 of the perfect and MIRACULOUSLY PRESERVED Quran. Some academics even claim that originally Surah 33 consisted of 286 verses!!! We find this same narration cited in Abu Ubaid’s Kitab Fadail-al-Qur’an: Said Abu ‘Ubaid: Isma’il b. Ibrahim related to us from Ayyub from Nafi‘ from Ibn ‘Umar who said - “Let none of you say, “I have learned the whole of the Koran,” for how does he know what the whole of it is, WHEN MUCH OF IT HAS DISAPPEARED? Let him rather say, “I have learned what is extant thereof.” References 1: (Jalal al Din `Abdul Rahman b. "Allah sent Muhammad (saw) with the Truth and revealed the Holy Book to him, and among what Allah revealed, was the Verse of the Rajam (the stoning of married persons, male and female, who commit adultery) and we did recite this Verse and understood and memorised it. Allah's Apostle (saw) did carry out the punishment of stoning and so did we after him. I am afraid that after a long time has passed, somebody will say, 'By Allah, we do not find the Verse of the Rajam in Allah's Book', and thus they will go astray by leaving an obligation which Allah has revealed." (Sahih al-Bukhari, [d. 870AD] Vol. 8:817, pg.539)

This is interesting. When Islam attempts to refute the Bible and Christians communicate that older manuscripts are found that verify the authenticity of the Bible it gets discounted by Muslims. When there are small variances that do not change the meaning of the Biblical text, Muslim apologists point to the Bible being corrupted. When people defend the Bible by communicating that the Bible writers could have used a more plausible story, but they didn’t because it was what really happened, then the Muslin apologists discount that as inconsistencies. Everything that Christians use to defend the Bible Muslims use to defend the authenticity and preservation of the Koran with. Yet for some reason Muslims will communicate Christians are wrong and Islam is right. The exact same arguments used for the support of the Bible seem to be used for the Koran and it’s the exact same arguments Muslims use to say that the Bible is corrupted. If the Bible is corrupted then the Quran is corrupted. But if the Quran is true, then the Bible is true which means the Quran is not true.
